Bits & Pieces ...

Heeeeellllllooooo Brooklyn! Beastie Boys are going to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The creations of Dutch craftsman Yuri Landman. This guy has some crazyass guitar creations.
On his website, the 34-year-old Landman describes himself as a "luthier specialized in experimental electric string-instruments". He builds some of the craziest, coolest guitars (and guitar-like things) we've ever seen. So far, he's built a guitar called the Moonlander for Lee Ranaldo and one called the Moodswinger for Aaron Hemphill. Continue here.

Cat Power will release her next "Covers Record" in January of 2008.

B Boys' "The Mix Up"

Beastie Boys have revealed exclusively to NME.COM that their new album will be called 'The Mix Up' and will be released in June.

Bandmember Mike D said the follow-up to 2004's 'To The 5 Boroughs' will be "radically different" to its' predecessor. The rockier record will instead hark to the style of the band's classic albums 'Check Your Head' and 'Paul's Boutique'.

Mike D said: "We play instruments on the whole album, as opposed to sampling. There's more rock on there. If you know us you can trace the influences and they're no completely surprising. Someone who listens to us casually might think 'What the hell are these guys doing?'

"It might make you flip your wig right off, or your hairpiece, if you're a casual listener."

It's been three years since the Beastie Boys released To the 5 Boroughs, which is still only half the time between the release of Boroughs and its immediate predecessor, Hello Nasty. The trio is, however, already hard at work on their next album, as Adam Yauch (aka MCA) revealed to Pitchfork in a recent interview.

Yauch says the Beasties are "focusing on playing instruments [and] not really working with drum machines and samples" on the record, which they are in the process of mixing. The album is currently untitled, but they hope to release it this spring.
