Detachment Kit Has A New EP

Their site looks to be the only place to get it besides being at a show.

After releasing a pair of critically acclaimed albums on Self-Starter and French Kiss Records in 2001 and 2003, respectively, Brooklyn (by way of Chicago) quartet Detachment Kit has given birth to a brand new batch of tunes called simply, +. The 13 track EP (yes, I know normally 13 tracks would be deemed an "album," but they insist it's an EP), is 42 minutes long and packed full of what DK fans have come to know and love over the years.

Queens of the Stone Age Pictures

Brooklyn Vegan has some pics from the free Zune showcase in NYC ...

Go to pics here.

Bring on the corporate-sponsored events. Not only was the Monday night Queens of the Stone Age show free, it was in a venue that was smaller than the band usually plays, there was open bar (everything - all night), and free food - not that I ate any of it.

MusicThing has a cool article on this DIY fuzz box ...
Will you just look at this! 15 knobs, 16 switches, five classic fuzz circuits (including Fuzz Face, Big Muff Pi, Colorsound Tonebender), wooden panels and FIVE VU METERS! It's a thing of hideous beauty built by Dano, aka Beavis Audio Research, and there are rough instructions to build your own here.

Ian MacKaye Interview

MacKaye recently spoke with Gothamist about the new album, the rock and roll economy, CBGB and why people talk during concerts.

GOTHAMIST: So the album’s called "Get Evens", the cover art seems to depict a model of the Capitol building half-buried in dirt and it’s being released the day before the mid-terms. Did you time the release to coincide with the elections?

MACKAYE: Not at all. In fact it didn’t even occur to me until about two weeks ago. I don’t really think about midterm elections because I live in Washington, DC.
