Finally!

The Datsuns website has finally revealed a release date for their new album ...

"The new album Smoke & Mirrors is due for release in the USA early April. "

I really think they need a new distributor. This album has been out in the UK since November.

Portishead Live Photos

Portishead just played a "secret" gig in the UK and there's a nice set of pictures on a flickr page here. Apparently they played some unreleased material that will probably show up on their rumored forthcoming album.

Some Live Footage For FRIDAY

Muse is incredible live and I highly recommend checking them out. So here's my pick for your viewing pleasure today....

Great News!!

2 singers decided to call it quits today.

Ian Astbury quit "Riders On The Storm" to return to The Cult. I'm a big Cult fan and hope they can put out another great album (somewhere in the area between "Love" and "Electric"). I think Ian needs to give Rick Rubin a ring.

And lastly, Chris Cornell quit Audioslave. I am all for this. He has been woosin' up Audioslave for too long. Now he can focus on pussifyin' his solo career.

New Dinosaur Jr Song

Pitchfork has come across a new track from their upcoming album "Beyond"...

"While the album's press release promises an album "not of nostalgia," album opener "Almost Ready" is totally nostalgic, steeped in early 90s college rock sounds-- which is fitting, since for many of us, the early 90s college sound was Dinosaur Jr."

Cat Power in NYC

Pitchfork has a few photos of Chan from one of her string of shows in NYC last week.

"Chan Marshall performed at New York's Museum of Modern Art as part of a PopRally 'Happening' celebrating multimedia artist Doug Aitken's new video piece, sleepwalkers. Projected onto one of the MoMA's outside walls, sleepwalkers features Marshall, Seu Jorge, and others taking "nocturnal journeys" (that was the sound of your mind sloshing around in the gutter) and will be on display through February 20."

Meat Beat Manifesto Album Update

MBM site had this to say ... "Jack has just about finished recording the album. Last week he had Z-Trip up to the studio to guest on the album. Suffice to say given today's date it is unlikely that the album will now be out in the Spring as we'd hoped but early Summer is very likely!"

On another note ... Meat Beat Manifesto won the award for best electronic act in the 17th Annual SF Weekly Music Awards.
