Bad Sects

Cursive have launched a contest to remix the band's new single, "Bad Sects," from their new album, Happy Hollow. Go to badsects.com to download the tracks and get down to some re-mixing. Cursive will listen to all of the submitted remixes and post some of their favorites. In early 2007, they will announce the winners of the contest.

The Destroyed Room: B-sides and Rarities

Sonic Youth are set to release a compilation album later this year. 'The Destroyed Room: B-sides and Rarities', out on December 11, will feature rare tracks from vinyl singles, compilations and international releases as well as unreleased material.

The Stooges hit studio with Nirvana producer

The reformed Stooges have begun working on their new album with Nirvana producer Steve Albini.

The band are working at Albini's Electrical Audio Studios in Chicago.

It will be the group's first album of new material since 1973's 'Raw Power'.

ROCK FOR DARFUR

MySpace announced a partnership with leading international relief and development organization, Oxfam, to launch their largest philanthropic program to-date, Rock For Darfur. The program includes a nationwide 20-city concert event aking place on Oct. 21 to raise awareness and funds for the crisis in Sudan. MySpace will donate a portion of ticket proceeds to Oxfam's relief efforts in Sudan and Chad. Some notable dates below and follow this link for more.
